On step 1 of exporting the identified registry key to a saved .reg file, PLEASE NOTE that the Preferences registry key sited at that location absolutely most be present in order to properly backup this registry key to the backup.reg file for the task manager preferences binary saved settings.
The ONLY way the Preferences registry key can be made present and visible is by manually CHANGING something about the Windows 10 task manager (such as clicking the “More details” button), and then clicking File->Exit which in turn causes the Preferences registry key saved status to appear at that identified registry key location.
